We made this card at my Card Class yesterday afternoon.
It seemed to be a very big hit!
Personally, I love it and I made two different versions.
This one, for the class,
and another (using Pistachio Pudding CS)
for a Friend for her Birthday ( I hope she loved it!).
I just love the effect you can achieve
with some simple painters tape*
and our firm foam ink pads!

Beautiful card! I got here fron Pinterest! Someone pinned it but didn't comment? So what is the painters tape technique?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment :)
ReplyDeleteThe "Painters Tape Technique" is where you lay a strip of painters tape (the blue stuff - in any width you prefer) across your ink pad, to pick up the ink, and then lay it across your card stock - to deposit the ink. That is how I created the background for my birds :) First I laid down the Crumb Cake (for my sand), then the Coastal Cabana (for my ocean) and the Soft Sky last (for the sky). I put down the Soft Sky twice - one row above the other - to have a larger Sky.
I love this card and have recently purchased the scallop topper punch just to make this style. Would you be willing to share the dimensions of the Coastal Cabana base cardstock and the scoreline? I have made one using the tall card dimensions, but l love the large square your card provides. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBarb, Thank You for your comments :)
DeleteLet's see if I can explain this :)
To make the card, cut your card stock to 4 1/4" by 11. Gently fold your card stock so the ends meet and insert both ends into your punch and punch (Disclaimer: Stampin' Up! only suggests punching one layer of card stock at a time so you can also do it that way by making a little tick mark at the center of both ends and then punching one end at a time).
Snip off the little rectangular pieces that remain in the corners. Now you have two tabbed ends.
With your paper trimmer and score blade - or the Simply Scored Board - line up one corner at 5 1/2 and score. Score the right hand Scalloped Tab and fold in toward the top tab.
Now your card base is ready :)
Thanks so much Mary! I had the dimensions for the 5 1/2 X 9, as my demonstrator demoed it at my party last weekend. I just love the square front on your card! My demo did punch both ends at the same time. I will have to play today and see if it works for me. Again, thank you for responding to my inquiry. - Barb
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful card Mary. I love your color mix and style. Thanks for the explanations in your message above. I would have loved to see the inside as what you can see in this picture, looks just as interesting as the outside. TFS.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Would love to see the inside. The peek is intriguing...
